2020-2023 Hyundai Palisade recalls: which ones matter and what to do
Short answer
The Palisade has no engine settlement. What it has is a long recall list. The one with a park-outside warning is 22V-633: a tow-hitch harness that can short and catch fire, whether it came from the factory or was bought as a Hyundai dealer accessory. Others cover seat belt buckles that may not latch, third-row curtain air bags, brake fluid, a brake booster and wiper motors. A small number of turn-key 2020-2021 Palisades are on the anti-theft software list.

Which years are involved
- 2020-2022: tow-hitch harness fire recall 22V-633.
- 2020-2023 (and later): seat belt buckle recall 25V-607 and third-row curtain air bag recall 26V-034.
- 2021: brake fluid contamination (21V-840). 2023: brake booster (23V-415).
- 2020-2021 and 2021-2023: wiper motor recalls (22V-627, 23V-180).
- Anti-theft: the Campaign 993 bulletin lists "certain" 2020-2021 Palisades, meaning turn-key ones without an immobilizer. Push-button cars don't need it.
Programs that may apply

- Engine settlements: the Palisade isn't on either engine settlement list.
Recalls worth knowing about
NHTSA's remedy text for 22V-633 says to park outside and away from structures until the fuse and wire extension kit are installed.
22V-633 · TRAILER HITCHES
Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling 2020-2022 Palisade vehicles potentially equipped with a tow hitch harness installed as original equipment, or purchased as an accessory through a Hyundai dealership. Debris and moisture accumulation on the tow hitch harness module printed circuit board (PCB) may cause an electrical short, which can result in a fire.
25V-607 · SEAT BELTS: REAR/OTHER:BUCKLE ASSEMBLY
Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2020-2025 Palisade vehicles. The seat belt buckles in the driver, passenger, and second-row window seats may fail to latch.
26V-034 · AIR BAGS:SIDE/WINDOW:CURTAIN
Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2020-2025 Palisade vehicles. The side curtain air bags for third-row occupants may deploy improperly in a crash. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 226, "Ejection Mitigation."
21V-840 · SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:FLUID
Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2021 Palisade vehicles. The brake fluid may be contaminated, which can cause the brake master cylinder inner-cup seals to swell, and reduce braking performance.
23V-415 · SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:POWER ASSIST
Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2023 Palisade vehicles. The brake booster diaphragm may become misaligned and cause an internal vacuum leak, which can result in a loss of power brake assist.
22V-627 · VISIBILITY:WINDSHIELD WIPER/WASHER:MOTOR
Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2020-2021 Palisade vehicles. The windshield wiper motor may become inoperative, causing the wipers to fail.
23V-180 · VISIBILITY/WIPER
Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2021-2023 Palisade vehicles. The windshield wiper motor may operate intermittently or fail to operate due to snow or ice buildup on the windshield, causing the wipers to fail.

Source: NHTSA complaints and recalls APIs, pulled 2026-10-09. One complaint can name several components. The recall count is every NHTSA campaign listed for that model year, not only open ones. Complaints are unverified owner reports, and counts reflect how many owners filed, not how many cars failed.
2020 has the most complaints, led by the engine and the wipers. From 2021 the seat belts move near the top, which matches the buckle recall. 2023 complaints most often name the service brakes.
Signs to take seriously
- Burning smell near the rear bumper or hitch connector, or trailer lights failing.
- A seat belt that clicks but pulls loose.
- Wipers that stop in snow or ice.
- A soft or hard brake pedal, or a brake warning light.
What to do, step by step
- Run your VIN at NHTSA and Hyundai. Palisades often have more than one open recall.
